MAJOR AXIS: PERSPECTIVES AND FOLIES - EXHIBITION OF PROPOSALS FOR AVENUE CHARLES DE GAULLE, NEUILLY, FRANCE
Redeveloped into a garden-boulevard, dotted with places of wonder, the Avenue Charles de Gaulle in Paris is fully embracing soft mobility.
The “Vortices” follies proposed by Zaha Hadid Architects are an integral part of this new public space, they integrate with the avenue, generating new flows that meander across the boulevard, redefining its frequency, creating break points and places of interaction.
The “Vortices” are curious shapes: elegant and seeming to float, they enhance the perspective of the Avenue, offering spaces that are both intimate and open to the outside. Visitors are transformed into "contemporary, wanderers curious to experiment and interact with these sculptures of tectonic wonder.
The “Vortices” favour circular design principles, combining bio-sourced materials with source efficient, advanced fabrication methods, can be adapted to many different programmatic uses thanks to a modular architecture of panels assembled in various ways.
"At the crossroads of innovation and architecture, the Follies offer a field of new experiences for the public. At the same time surprising, immersive and welcoming, they herald the cultural, social and economic ambition that we want to give to public space."
Jean-Christophe Fromantin, Mayor of Neuilly-sur-Seine
